Valencia College

Session 4: Understanding Privilege

We welcome you to join Winter Garden's year-long community workshop series. This communitywide event will provide a safe space to focus on our shared humanity with an exploration and practical application of important topics such as race, privilege, bias, systems of privilege and oppression.

Session 4: Understanding Privilege

In this session, participants gain an understanding of what is meant by privilege (unearned advantage) and explore multiple areas of privilege, including white privilege. The workshop teaches that all people experience
unearned privilege as well as disadvantages and allows people space and time to share personal stories in a disarming safe environment. Honoring every story and treating each other with dignity and respect are modeled in this safe environment.

This is a part of the RISE: Conversations on Race and Unity 6-session series.
