On November 14th, 2022, representatives from the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and the Institute of International Education, released findings on international student enrollments and U.S. study abroad in the “Open Doors 2022 Report on International Educational Exchange.” This report showcased the changes in student mobility after the first year of the Covid 19 pandemic. There was an increase in total international students at U.S. colleges and universities by 4%, and an increase in new international student enrollment by 80%, compared to the previous year.  However, community colleges still saw a drop in total international student enrollment by 12.5%.

Valencia College moved from ranking 7th in the U.S. to ranking 5th for hosting international students among associate colleges, with 1,314 total international student enrollments. Lone Star College, Houston Community College, Santa Monica, and De Anza took the top spots.  The other Florida community college that ranked in the top 10 was Miami-Dade College, which ranked 9th in the U.S. with a total of 879 international students.
