On March 21 the Valencia International Club (VIC) and the Valencia Intercultural Student Association (VISA), along with International Student Services (ISS), offered various interactive spring cultural experiences at the International Spring Festival. This festival showcased four popular spring festivals where participants had the opportunity to enjoy delicious food, and participate in learning interactive activities such as: Songkran - Water Fest from Thailand, Holi - Color Fest from India, Maypole Dance from Aruba, Chinese Calligraphy from China, and Henna tattoos.

Cultures around the world celebrate the arrival of spring in various ways. In Southeast Asian nations, they celebrate the “Water Festival” by splashing or pouring water on one another as a cleansing ritual. In parts of Europe and the Caribbean, they do Maypole dances on May 1st; and in India, Hindus celebrate Holi by spraying colored powder on each other’s faces.

The students organized a tri-fold brochure to explain the different celebrations including Holi, and variations of Carnivals in South America and Guam, the Fallas festival in Spain, and the Falgun festival in Bangladesh. They also had Vietnam, Russia, and Mongolia represented in the event. The event took place on both East and West Campuses.
