About this Event
Zoom webinar with Prof. of History, Dr. Heather Bailey (University of Illinois)
As we approach the one-year anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, an event many would have considered unthinkable in the post-WWII era, it is perhaps beneficial to our understanding of this conflict to go behind the headlines and examine the inner workings of Vladimir Putin's Russia, specifically, his intimate relationship with the Russian Orthodox Church and its leader, Patriarch Kirill, who has supported and helped enable the Kremlin's mobilization of public sentiment by appealing to religious nationalism.
Students, faculty, staff, and friends of Valencia College are invited to attend this Zoom webinar talk and Q&A by Dr. Heather Bailey, professor of history at the University of Illinois, who is a specialist in this area.
This Humanities Speakers Series event is free and open to the public and made possible by the generous support of East Campus Student Development.
