Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Florida and the Zebra Coalition, an Orlando-based LGBTQ+ youth serving organization, will partner to take participants through the steps of being trauma informed when assessing needs, providing supportive services and working with youth and families with unique and challenging needs. This presentation will review risk factors and current data on human trafficking and sexual exploitation of LGBTQ+ youth. Participants will increase cultural competency and discuss how to best support the needs of this niche population.
Serving Vulnerable Populations: LGBTQ+ and Sexually Exploited Youth
Objectives:
• Participants will gain an understanding of working with LGBTQ+
population and enhance cultural competency skills
• Participants will gain awareness of the crossover of LBGTQ+
and human trafficking populations outlining their uniqueness in
regards of needs and services
• Participants will participate in discussion on current evidenced
based practices in serving special populations
• Participants will engage in discussion in what they can do to
support the needs of LBGTQ+ and human trafficking crossover
youth in their settings
2.5 CEUs offered at no cost to participant! This complimentary workshop is made possible in partnership with the Florida Department of Children and Families. Devereux Florida is an approved provider of continuing education for LCSW’s, LMHC’s, LMFT’s and Child Welfare Credentialing.
