The Valencia Singers open the concert with sacred and secular choral works by Nygard, Leavitt, Althouse and Rutter, and concludes the first half of the program with Handel’s first Coronation Anthem in honor of the crowning of the new king after the recent passing Britain’s beloved, long-reigning queen Elizabeth II. In the centuries-long tradition of the British monarchy, this anthem by Handel would be appropriate for this very year!

For the second half of the program the Contemporary Ensemble will sing and dance to selections from the musical theater shows Hairspray, Finding Neverland, Prince of Egypt, The Prom, Falsettos, Footloose, Once, Dreamgirls, Frozen, A Star Is Born, and She Loves Me.

Both halves of the program include a taste of the holiday fare that these groups will perform with the Symphonic Band and String Ensemble in the all-ensemble holiday show on the 22^nd.
